The Man Behind the Framework.
Kenji Darby is a nationally recognized education strategist, cybersecurity leader, and systems architect whose career spans over two decades at the intersection of technology, workforce development, and community transformation.
Holding a Master of Education with a concentration in organizational leadership, Kenji brings a rare combination of academic rigor and practitioner experience to the challenge of STEM equity. His Project Management Professional (PMP) certification reflects a disciplined, outcomes-driven approach to building systems that scale — while his Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation grounds the Framework's cybersecurity and digital literacy tracks in industry-recognized standards.
Kenji's work is rooted in a fundamental conviction: that the communities most impacted by the digital divide are also the communities most capable of leading the digital future — if given the right infrastructure. The STEM Continuum™ Framework is his answer to that challenge: a six-stage, systems-based pathway that takes young people from their first encounter with STEM all the way through career placement and generational wealth creation.
As the originator of the STEM Continuum™ as a leadership theory and organizational framework, Kenji has spent years translating his doctoral research into a living, breathing network of Community Innovation Hubs across the Mid-Atlantic region — with a vision to scale nationally.
Why the STEM Continuum™?
The idea was born from a gap Kenji kept seeing — not a lack of STEM programs, but a lack of continuity. Young people would complete a summer coding camp, a robotics club, or a cybersecurity workshop, and then... nothing. No next step. No pathway. No connection to the career on the other side.
Kenji recognized that the problem wasn't motivation or talent — it was infrastructure. Communities lacked the connective tissue to turn a spark of interest into a sustained journey. The STEM Continuum™ was designed to be that connective tissue: a framework that doesn't just offer programs, but builds the systems that make programs matter.
What started as a dissertation became a movement. What started as a theory became a network of Community Innovation Hubs. And what started as one educator's conviction has become a framework that communities across the region are adopting as the architecture of their STEM ecosystems.
